A week indeed

Sorry its been so long... Work has started with CountryFin. and I've been busy as all get out. I started May 26th, carpeted a basement the 27th, moved houses the 29th, and got all my course work rolling along with that.

My days as of now are... wake up at 5:45 with no alarm clock (SCARY!), get to work by 7:15, work work work, leave work and either go to class or go home.. The days I go to class I get home about 10 o'clock. Sleeeppyy.

It's really nice to be working again and I work with some very good nerds.

Ok, I really need to pay attention in class. I'll try to update later!

Score one for Justice!

Boston Student's equipment illegally seized!
(From eff.com)

January 27, 2009, Boston College police filed a report stating that Calixte and a roommate were having "domestic issues." During a subsequent conversation with police the next day, Calixte's roommate made a series of unsubstantiated and misleading claims about Calixte's computer expertise that the police later used in an attempt to portray him as a criminal, by alleging that Calixte was a "computer science major who is considered a master of the trade among his peers,"

Thanks to a roommate making wild claims, this student had all of his electronics gear confiscated and searched. With no hard evidence. Some of the statements that used in the warrant for search and seizure included..

Ow.

So, I recently had the bright idea to bike round trip on Rock Island Trail :
http://dnr.state.il.us/LANDS/landmgt/parks/r1/rockisle.htm

It's a 52 mile round trip. The mountain bike I was riding really isnt set for distance, but what the heck eh? I got a friend of mine Chris to come with. He's a road biker, who's good with distance biking.

We hit the Trail head at 9:30, the first 3 miles were a bit painful, but after warming up, it went pretty well. All was going well until we hit the first mud trap. Chris's road bike found a nice deep mud hole.. and he took a minor dive. Not injuries, it was all good.

Wisdom

Last night a wise saying was declared... and I must pass it on...

When talking about our class and how there was unfortunately no definite answer to each debate:

No one is ever going to do things right,
we just have to try to keep them from doing them wrong.

Hamfest and more! KC9ATT reporting.

I spent the last 4 days in Dayton, ohio enjoying Hamfest. It was a great time seeing some new radio tech, hanging out with a group of awesome HAMs and learning alot of new things. A friend of mine Dave was nice enough to let me borrow his spare Kenwood F6 HT, which is a nice 2 way tri-band radio.

It took a 5 hour drive out to Dayton, but it was well worth it. We got to the hotel, got everyone settled, and headed out to Steak and Shake for some grub and carousing. I was immediately amazed by the knowledge that this group of guys had. There was no question that went unanswered with them. A night of rest and an early morning....

A Better Recap

Alright loyal listener...

I realize that I was very lax in my details of the race, so here's a more robust narrative:

First off, what is an Orienteering race? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orienteering .... but in short, it's us hiking/running/biking through the woods looking for a small orange and white control point to get a small punch.

Picture this.. a sunny, yet cold and windy saturday morning.. 7 am. My team member Crystal and I had been awake for a half hour already, driving out to the race site at Jubilee College park (http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt/PARKS/R1/Jubilee.htm , awesome joint!)

Terrific Sunday

It was one of those great days! All of yesterday was taken by a great adventure race. Spent the time orienteering through the woods of jubilee. Between fording the river and scaling a cliff or two, the race was great fun.

Spent the rest of Saturday recuperating, then sunday was filled with horseback riding and a great hike at alerton park in I find myself thoroughly exhausted.
